First Steps® ACP Facilitator Training
Community volunteers and healthcare professionals are invited to participate in this evidence-based training to become a certified Advance Care Planning Facilitator. Our training is a two-part course consisting of four to six hours of online instruction and a full day of training with didactic and role play experience. Participants will learn effective communication and interview skills to empower individuals through the process of discussing, deciding, and documenting their healthcare preferences.

This course offers individuals including Advance Care Planning (ACP) Facilitators the opportunity to enhance their understanding of common and various terms used in ACP and estate planning. The attendee will be given additional information regarding which document is used when there are multiple ACP documents and Michigan laws surrounding the use of advance directives and wishes for no resuscitation in given situations. Completing the Making Choices Michigan advance directive legally and clearly is reviewed. Ample time for questions is provided for any of the topics covered in this course.

Webinar: Out of Hospital Deaths
This course offers individuals including Advance Care Planning Facilitators the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the legal needs for those who choose to no longer be resuscitated. Required documents, elements required for EMS to honor the preference in the community and handling of the body at the time of death will be presented: Michigan’s Funeral Representative law will also be discussed. Ample time for questions is provided for the topics covered in this course.
